How to Select a REALTOR®
I encourage all my clients to talk to a number of different REALTORS® about the services they provide and get a sense of their style and ability. Selecting the right REALTOR® is as important as selecting the right home for your needs.
I believe I am the right REALTOR® for you! Here are the questions you should ask of any REALTOR® and the reasons why I am the right one for you.
Q: How long have you worked in real estate, and are you licensed?
A: I have been involved in with real estate for a number of years. My first formal introduction to real estate was like many people, as an investment tool. In 2002, I helped form a corporation to purchase commercial property in Saskatchewan which has since tripled in size. This has lead me to become more immersed in the real estate profession which has lead to my further education and licensing in 2006.
Q: Are you a REALTOR®? Do you have other professional designations?
A: I am a licensed REALTOR® through the Saskatchewan Real Estate Association, a member of the Canadian Real Estate Association and as such, I am legally obligated to conduct business in accordance with high standards of business practice and to a strict Code of Ethics. I also have a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Saskatchewan.
Q: How often will we be in touch during the searching and buying process? Can I look at homes without you?
A: The amount of contact between us is mostly determined by you. I am at your disposal as little or as much as you would like. The manner and frequency or our contact is determined up front to ensure we stick to a communication plan.
A: Of course, you are allowed to look at homes without me being there and I hope that together, we can find the right home for you.
Q: What makes you stand out among your peers? Are there past clients who will serve as references for you?
A: There are 2 main factors which set me apart from other real estate agents. They are:
- Work Smart - I not only work longer and harder than most professionals, I work smarter. I utilize all the latest of technologies, equipment and relationships within the industry to best represent your interests.
- Relationship Style - My ability to from a trusting relationship is paramount. The reason why I have this ability is through open two-way communication and loyalty to my customers.
You are free to call any client in my records for a reference!
Q: If I am not satisfied with your performance, can I terminate our agreement?
A: If there is sufficient and understandable reasoning for it (some people try to terminate just prior to the sale in order to avoid paying real estate agents), the brokerage can accept to terminate the agreement.
Q: How will you get paid? May I have that in writing?
A: I get paid only when a sale has finalized. In most instances, it is the seller who pay's the commission to the buying and selling brokerages. My commission is always communicated upfront and in writing.
